Orcas Island residents may be feeling a little lost since the closure of the Orcas licensing office on December 17. San Juan County Auditor Milene Henley assures them that assistance, and a familiar voice, is available.

Cathy Ferran, the licensing agent who formerly worked in the Orcas office, has joined the Friday Harbor licensing staff, and takes many of the calls from her fellow Orcas Islanders.

Most vehicle and vessel licensing transactions can be done over the internet or by mail. Title transfers can be a little tricky, but they’re here to help. For help with any kind of transaction, call the Friday Harbor office (370-7552), and customer service specialists will assist you over the phone.

Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
