Several Chamber members have reached out about fundraising for Maui residents in relief of the devastating fires that recently swept through Lahaina claiming the lives of over 100 with several hundred more missing.

As islanders, we know all too well what it can take or a community to recover from such a disaster. The bond of islanders may be even stronger with Hawai’i as many of us have been fortunate enough to escape to those beautiful islands during the winter, especially.

The Orcas Hotel has already announced special fundraising dinners at Norbu on Sep. 9 and 10, featuring renowned Hawaiian musician CJ Helekahi.

And now the businesses on Eastsound Square have announced another Night Market on Aug. 25 and will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from their sales that night to Maui’s recovery effort. Additionally, the Orcas Island Community Foundation will be on-hand to collect direct donations on behalf of the Hawai’i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund.
