April 14: A wandering band of pigs took its toll on a Lopez Island woman’s garden after they wiggled out of a next door neighbor’s fence and then dined on her daffodils. The four pigs, which belong to a couple that live at the north end of the island, were reportedly supposed to be contained within a fence at a home in the 1700 block of Mud Bay Road.

April 17: A Lopez Island man faces a charge of negligent driving following an early-evening single-car collision in which he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and severed a speed sign on Ferry Road in half as the pickup careened off the roadway. The 36-year-old, who left the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m., before officers arrived, claimed to have lost control of the pickup while answering a call on his cell-phone. He was also ticketed for driving without insurance.

April 19: An Anacortes man suspects workers at an Orcas Island sawmill may be responsible for the theft of three firearms and numerous belongings from his property near Sawmill Road. The value of the missing items and the type of firearms that reportedly disappeared were unavailable in the incident report.

April 21: A 20-year-old Bellingham woman was arrested for an alcohol-related offense following a late-night intrusion into an Orcas Island home near her family’s property on Point Lawrence Road. The woman and a 17-year-old friend visiting from Germany reportedly had returned to the family’s property and were asleep in a tent when officers arrived at the scene.
