The Lopez Island School District Board of Directors is looking for a half-time superintendent for the 2009-2010 school year.
The directors want community input and opinions regarding the qualities, skills, and experiences that should be prioritized in the selection of the superintendent.
Northwest Educational Service Director Jerry Jenkins has been enlisted to assist in the search. He will be facilitating two input sessions on Thursday, March 19 in the school library. School staff are invited to participate from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the community is invited to participate from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Input forms will be available at both sessions. Those unable to attend can get the forms in advance from the school office.
The search for a new k-12 principal has been narrowed to three candidates. They will be interviewed March 11 through 13 for position created by the retirement of Principal Roland MacNichol at the end of this school year. Chosen from an initial pool of 26 applicants, the public, parents and students are invited to a forum to meet each candidate on the three nights at 5:30 p.m. in the school library.
“We have tried very hard to get meaningful input from parents, students, staff, and community in this process,” Superintendent Bill Evans said. “Your comments and input on the three finalists will be very much appreciated.”
