The walls of Luna Restaurant in Eastsound have been converted into gallery space displaying the work of local photographers, potters and other visual artists.
A public reception signaling the opening of “Fotogaleria Luna” will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m., affording a chance to meet with the artists. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.
The gallery is not a commercial venture, according to restaurant owners Kim and Heather Thomas, but rather a way to enhance the atmosphere and the dining experience for the Eastsound community, as well as provide local artists with an additional gallery space.
The exhibit comprises two portions: the main dining room will feature photography by members of Orcas Camera Club’s Tuesday morning group, which meets weekly at the restaurant. This show promises to be changed very frequently to insure that restaurant patrons are afforded continuing new visual experiences. The side dining room, by contrast, will have a more eclectic display, including works by local potters, photographers and painters. The gallery areas may be viewed during restaurant hours.
