Diane Baxter, President of the Orcas Island Medical Guild (OIMG)has announced that, “Along with business, reports and homemade cookies, Orcas Island Medical Guild will present a visual trip down memory lane.
“You are invited to join us as we take an armchair tour of over 22 years of service to our community.”
In 1985, Bob Crinkley, then President of Orcas Island Medical Building Association (now known as Orcas Island Medical Center Association/OIMCA since purchasing the property, building the medical center and becoming landlords of the same) stated in an open letter to the residents of Orcas Island, “The Orcas Island Medical Building Association Board of Directors welcomes the Orcas Island Medical Guild as an affiliated organization working toward the common goals of providing improved medical services and facilities for island residents and, during the summer especially, for our tourists and boater visitors.”
Baxter says, “As a non-profit corporation, we have been working to enhance and support emergency services and primary medical care for Orcas Island not-for-profit entities by purchasing medical equipment, co-sponsoring health fairs and providing health education. Benefitting from our donations are Orcas Island Volunteer Fire/EMS, Camp Orkila, Orcas Island Medical Center Association/Medical Building – all not-for-profit entities.”
The 22nd Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at the Fire Station on Mt. Baker Rd. in Eastsound at 10:00 a.m.
