Photographer Michael Gerard Mele is presenting an art show at the Orcas Senior Center entitled “Spring Awakening” in honor of Mother’s Day and Mother Earth.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The show will be up through the month of May.

Mele’s mother is a breast cancer survivor, and his work is also in honor of the annual Relay for Life breast cancer walk. A portion of all of Mele’s art sales throughout the month of May will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s walk.

The show will feature botanical, floral, scenic and macro photography evoking the seasons of life.
