The Friends of Moran State Park received an award as the 2007 Volunteer Group of the Year from the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.

The award was presented to Barb and Gordon Buman by Chris Guidotti, Moran Park Manager, at a Commission meeting, Thursday, April 24, 2008 on Camano Island. Gordon and Barb were also selected 2nd runners-up as the 2007 Volunteers of the Year.

Chris Guidotti, Moran Park Manager, stated, “The Friends of Moran is a dedicated group of volunteers who are an asset to the park and it’s visitors. Through hard work and a genuine love of the park, they have spent thousands of hours rallying community support and raising money for the many projects in the park”.
