Systems Counselor Morgan Randall is conducting a workshop entitled, “The Tao of Disengaging from Verbal Attack” on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pyramidion Bookstore in Eastsound.

The class is based on the object-relations work of Dr. Margaret Mahler, Diamond Approach founder A.H. Almaas and teacher Michael Torresan, and will teach learning to recognize the internal critic or the superego, and how it drives one to endure, invoke or create chronic internal and external verbal attacks.

Instructor Randall says, “Attendees will learn simple ways to cleanly disengage from these attacks. There will be didactic and experiential parts to the workshop, so folks can witness and work with self-inquiry and practice disengaging in a safe environment. The class is for anyone who feels really small when talking with someone who manipulates or even pushes them around verbally, or those who wish they didn’t hurl words that hurt the ones they love.”
