A computer problem in the County Auditor’s office has halted the issuance of standard motor vehicle and motor vessel licenses at the San Juan County Courthouse. The County licensing office on Orcas has not been affected by the problem.
A technician from the State Department of Licensing has been dispatched from the mainland to repair or replace the faulty computer. In the meantime, the Auditor office is still able to issue temporary 15-day vehicle and vessel tags.
“We expect the problem to be fixed today, but we cannot say when,” said Accounting Supervisor Jose Domenech. He advises people to check before coming to the courthouse for a license today or tomorrow. The Auditor’s information phone number is: (360) 378-3748
