The Orcas Food Bank is moving to a more central space in Eastsound, in the south side of the Orcas Island Community Church, 176 Madrona Street.
Tuesday, April 7, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., will be the 20-year-old group’s first day in the new location.
The church, in response to food bank board members’ concerns, has provided the space. It is heated, easily accessible by foot or by car, and allows clients both privacy and the ability to wait and
shop for their food in a sheltered place. Parking is on the south side of the main building.
For the past decade, the food bank has been located on Mount Baker Road in a building provided by OPALCO. Prior to that, it was located near the southwest side of the airport.
