Support group for dementia; Open mic at Orcas Center; Walla Walla University Choir at Orcas Center.

Support group for dementia

The Orcas Senior Center has formed a dementia/Alzheimer’s caregiver support group. Facilitated by Larry Hughes, caregivers will have the opportunity to meet with others who are currently caring for loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer’s to receive practical and emotional support. Supervision will be available for care receivers at the senior center during the meeting.

The group will first meet Wednesday, Feb. 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the senior center. Lunch is available for $5 per person. Pre-registration is required: call 376-2677 or by e-mailing orcasheartsandhands@gmail.com.

Open mic for all

Brush up your talents, whatever they may be; you’re the star! Join Gordon and Anita as they host the second ever Orcas Center Main Stage Open Mic, Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. No pre-recorded music please; just you, your talent and our mic (max three songs or 10 minutes, whichever comes first). Walla Walla choir

Walla Walla University will present its touring choir, “I Cantori,” on the Orcas Center main stage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12. There is no charge. For more info: 376-6683.
