Professional flower arranger Rosemarie Altberg will be leading a “Fun with Flowers” workshop on Thursday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Eastsound Fire Hall.

“If you’d like to learn how to create beautiful floral arrangements, this is a workshop you won’t want to miss,” organizers say.

Come early for coffee and conversation at 9:30 a.m. Participants are asked to bring a 7” to 12” container and green materials. The Garden Club is supplying the flowers and floral supplies.

“I love the free flowing … I’m expressing artistic points of view through my flowers,” Altberg said. “I have a Master’s degree in art, so I’m always finding new avenues to lead my creativity in new directions.”

Altberg has 20 years of experience and specializes in large arrangements. Other island designers will also demonstrate their craft, including local gardening legend Emily Reid.

The Chamber Music Festival hopes a community of flower arrangers will develop, and that many will become part of the group of volunteers who create arrangements for the festival.

Tuition is $5 and class size is limited to 30 people. To register, call the Chamber Music Festival Office at 376-6636.
