It’s time to sign up for the “Orcas Has Talent” show and the stakes just got a lot higher.
To entice the most talent out of our community, the producers of “Orcas Has Talent” (formerly Orcas Idol) have just raised the first place prize from $200 to $500.
“Orcas Has Talent” is the same show in everyway as “Orcas Idol” except that it is open to all talent, not just singers. It is a lighthearted, variety show that will showcase singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, and performers of all kinds. The winner will be chosen by the voting audience of the Finale Show on Feb. 5 at Orcas Center. All proceeds benefit Orcas Island Prevention Partnership.
Adults and young adults, 9th grade and up will need to audition on Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. on the Grange Stage by performing a three- to five-minute act. The judges will select the top 10 performers, based upon a set of criteria that includes stage presence, technical ability and showmanship. The top ten will go on to compete for the finale show at the Orcas Center. For kids ages 10 to 14, there is an “Orcas Has Talent Jr.” competition that will happen on Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. where a winner will be announced.
Sign up to audition for “Orcas Has Talent” or “Orcas Has Talent Jr.” Come to the Funhouse on Jan. 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.orcasprevention.org for more details.
