On Thursday, Feb. 12, Orcas Island High School held its annual midyear assembly to recognize those who made the Honor Roll at the semester and induct the new members of The National Honor Society.
The first speaker was Dick Boberg, who told the student body about Boys and Girls State and urged the juniors to participate.
Then NHS members Emma Gallo-Chasanoff, Maddie Smith, Lily Sky, Eli Blaine, and Lanie Padbury inducted10 new members into OHS’s National Honor Society.
Membership is based on students’ service, citizenship, academic achievement and overall character.
The new members are seniors Edi Leonard, Anton Ilkevich, Sam Parish, and Ashley McCloskey; juniors Emily Diepenbrock, Jeanie Tran, Bobbi Lowry, and Taylor Diepenbrock; and sophomores Makala Forster and Halley McCormick.
After the NHS induction ceremony Honor Roll students, those with a GPA of 3.25 to 3.49 and High Honor Roll students, those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher were recognized.
