The 2008 grants were:

Animal Protection Society: Low-cost spay and neuter program, $2,000, funded by Barbara Bedell.

Children’s House: Install natural play yard at infant-toddler center, $1,500, funded by Joe Cohen and Martha Farish.

Crossroads Lectures/Friend of the Library: Speaker program, $3,000, funded by OICF.

DV/SAS: Family options child abuse prevention counseling, $5,000, funded by OICF.

Eastsound Off Leash Dog Park/APS: Improvements to new dog park site, $250, funded by Nanette Pyne.

F.E.A.S.T. (Farm Education And Sustainability for Teens)/Orcas Recreation: Summer high school farming/stewardship program, $3,500, funded by Joe Cohen and Martha Farish, Clayton Philbrick and OICF.

Four Winds-Westward Ho! Camp: Renovate infirmary, $1,000, funded by OICF.

Funhouse: Upgrade computers, $3,500, funded by Joe Cohen and Martha Farish.

Kaleidoscope: Bringing books home, $3,000, funded by OICF.

KWIAHT: Lab equipment to test water quality, $2,000, funded by Eastsound Water Users Association and Eastsound Sewer and Water.

Nurse Corps/Orcas Island School District (OISD): Educational supplies for school nurse, $818, funded by Bob and Phyllis Henigson.

OPAL: Lavender Hollow capital repairs, $5,000, funded by an anonymous partner.

Orcas A Cappella: Software and hardware to make rehearsal CDs, $100, funded by an anonymous partner.

Orcas Aviation Association: Mercy flights, $5,000, funded by Clayton Philbrick and an anonymous partner.

Orcas Center/OISD/OIEF: Expand school theater and dance programs. $8,500 funded for 2008 by Joe Cohen and Martha Farish, The Masterman Family Fund, Clayton Philbrick and OICF. $4,000 funded for 2009 by OICF.

Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival & Music Advisory Group: Preschool music program. $5,600 funded for 2008 by Joe Cohen and Martha Farish, Bob and Phyllis Henigson and Clayton Philbrick. $2,500 funded for 2009 by The Masterman Family Fund and OICF. $1,500 funded for 2010 by The Masterman Family Fund and OICF.

Orcas Island Public Library/San Juan Nature Institute: Instructor for kids’ summer reading program, $473, funded by Bob and Phyllis Henigson.

Orcas Island Writers Festival/Library: Writers’ conference, $500, funded by an anonymous partner.

Orcas Montessori School: Bilingual summer program, $3,500, funded by OICF.

Orcas Senior Center: Survey current and future needs of Orcas senior population, $3,500, funded by OICF.

Sail Orcas: Replace aging race boat, $5,000, funded by Clayton Philbrick and OICF.

San Juan Nature Institute/OISD 4th-6th grades: Salmon and habitats program, $2,833, funded by Clayton Philbrick and an anonymous partner.

San Juan Nature Institute/OISD 6th grade/Salmonberry School: Indian Island study, $3,500, funded by OICF.

Youth Grants – $4,000, funded by Michael Brennan. Children’s House: $1,000. Compass Mental Health Services: $1,000. DV/SAS: $1,000. Irthlingz: $1,000.
