Finances and public comment revisions were on the docket for discussion during the monthly Board of Fire Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The department decided that it would be moving its accounting back from the county to the department. In July 2016, the finances had been moved from a certified public accountant the department had been contracting to the county.
“We’re not dissatisfied with the county. The county has done a great job,” said Fire Chief Scott Williams to The Sounder. “We just feel like we can do it in-house. A lot of things I thought we’d be gaining by moving to the county, we did not gain.”
The board also discussed the idea of making revisions to the existing public comment process.
“We’re trying to streamline the meetings and work on organization,” said Williams. “Trying to create some structure organization.”
The board was unable to come to a unanimous decision and the subject will be discussed again at a future meeting.
