Oct. 23
• An Orcas Island deputy stopped a vehicle for not having a license plate on the vehicle, defective windshield, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance, on Terril Beach Rd. An infraction was issued for each.
• An Orcas Island deputy observed a parking problem at the county dock Obstruction Pass Road. A 72-hour warning notice of an abandoned vehicle tag was issued.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of an agency assist involving a report of identity theft. It was determined that the suspect left San Juan County prior to the report.
Oct. 24
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on the 1500 block of Buck Mountain Road. An investigation was conducted and found the driver of the vehicle uninjured and had not been drinking. A report was authored.
• Lopez deputies responded to a suspicious circumstances report. A male from out of state was contacted for overnight camping. He was given a jump start and the county trespass and camping laws were explained.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a call for a welfare check of a subject screaming obscenities on A Street. A subject was contacted in front of a business. An investigation was conducted the subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a walk-in report of an assault. Due to the suspect being a juvenile, the report was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office and Superior Court Services.
Oct. 25
• Deputies were dispatched to a possible domestic dispute in the Friday Harbor area. Deputies checked the area but nothing was located. A report was taken.
• A deputy was dispatched to a possible domestic dispute in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy arrived and found that one of the involved people had left the scene. The deputy spoke to the other person about the incident. A report was taken.
• Deputies were dispatched to a trespassing call in the Friday Harbor area. One person was contacted and arrested for trespassing. The person was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and booked into custody. A report was taken.
• A deputy was contacted about found property in the Friday Harbor area. The person turned over the items which were entered into evidence. A report was taken.
• An Orcas Island deputy took an incident report of a noninjury traffic collision that occurred during the Orcas Island High School Homecoming parade. An incident report was authored.
• A Lopez deputy responded when an unknown truck pulled onto private property after nightfall. The property owner attempted to yell at the driver, who exited the vehicle, but the driver did not respond. Upon investigation, the driver was a deaf man looking for his lost dog.
Oct. 27
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle striking a legally parked car. The driver was arrested for DUI.
• Deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute in the San Juan Island area. Deputies arrived and contacted the people involved in the incident. The incident was a verbal argument. A report was taken.
• A Lopez resident reported damage to a mailbox and the theft of campaign signs. A report was completed.
• Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a possible domestic dispute in Eastsound. A vehicle matching the description was stopped for speeding. The involved parties claimed there was no physical altercation. The driver was issued numerous traffic infractions.
Oct. 28
• Adult Protective Services requested a follow-up for possible financial exploitation. The incident occurred out of state, no loss was incurred and this incident was the fault of the bank.
• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a single-vehicle collision in Moran State Park. The vehicle was determined to have slid off the roadway.
• A deputy on Orcas Island received a dog-at-large complaint. The owner was identified and issued infractions for violation of At-Large Dog 1st Offense and Fail to License Dog 1st Offense.
• A Lopez Island deputy was dispatched to a mail theft call. The incident occurred on the south end of the island in the middle of October. The incident was documented.
Oct. 29
• A Friday Harbor student was escorted off the school grounds of the Friday Harbor Middle School for being disruptive. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was then turned over to his father.
• A deputy on San Juan Island took a report of a possible weapons offense. A report was completed.
• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to an animal problem. The owner was contacted and issued a verbal warning for a dog running at large.
