This last week, Orcas Island School District retained an attorney and an outside investigator to conduct a comprehensive investigation into allegations regarding an Elementary teacher leaving bruises on the arm of a student while redirecting the student back into the classroom.

The district has placed the teacher on paid administrative leave to provide separation and time for the investigation to be conducted. Administrative leave is by no means a disciplinary action. The district has hired a substitute teacher in the interim.

The investigator was on campus last week conducting initial interviews, and will return this week to finalize his investigation. Shortly thereafter, he will submit his report of findings.

The Sounder reached out to OISD for information but was told that due to this being an ongoing investigation they were unable to comment.
