Orcas High School junior Jordan Griffin was the victim of a sledding accident on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
The sixteen-year-old was with friends at the golf course when he fell while sledding off a jump they had built. He broke his neck and was flown to Harborview in Seattle, where he underwent surgery on Thursday, Dec. 18. His c-six vertebrate was removed and replaced with a titanium rod. He is paralyzed from the chest down.
Jordan’s mother Rachel, his twin brother Josh, and younger sisters Bethany and Anna are in Seattle at his side. Jordan is expected to stay in the hospital for six weeks.
