Come swing with band leader Ken Speck and the Orcatrazz Swing Band on Wednesday, July 12, at noon in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
“The name Ocratazz came about because like Alcatrazz we are sort of trapped on an island, only we love it,” says the band.
The group plays music mostly from the swing band era. The band members have varied experiences ranging from amateur to professional. Most of all they have serious fun and enjoy making music of the big band era – and on occasion they even add a little rock and roll song for the younger crowd.
The program will include “Band Stand Boogie,” “String of Pearls,” Sweet Caroline,” “Sentimental Journey,” and several more of your favorites from the great swing bands.
The concerts are free, however, donations are accepted to help fund scholarships for promising local music students to attend music camp. This is a popular concert so plan to arrive early as seating is limited. Bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy on the lawn, weather permitting, after the concert.
