Large, carved wooden eagles and a variety of color photography will be highlighted in the Orcas Center Main Gallery throughout June.
The exhibit, “Soul of the Eagle and Tree,” is the work of neighbors and fellow artists Louellen McCoy and Rocky McGinnis who share a passionate love of nature.
The show will open with a reception Friday, June 5, in the Center’s Madrona room, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
It will be the first exhibit at the Center for McGinnis, and will include about 15 large (four and a half to five feet tall) wooden eagles carved from red cedar, yellow cedar, alder and madrona.
Although his passion for the great birds dates back well over a quarter century, his professional carving career didn’t begin until 2006.
McCoy, a familiar island photographer, will display 42 examples of her work at the Center show. She works entirely with film images. A member of the island’s Camera Club, she has shown her work in one-and-two-person shows, as well as group exhibits, on the Island and elsewhere.
