Point Blank members will once again brave the cold in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of driving sober, especially during the holidays.
This group of high school leaders will hand out free red ribbons to our community, asking each person to display it in a visible location on your vehicle to show your support for keeping our roads safe for family, friends and loved ones.
Point Blank members will be in front of Island Market on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 18 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
“Our holiday wish is to see red ribbons on island vehicles everywhere,” say organizers.
Who is Point Blank? Point Blank is a group of high school leaders who strive to inform, educate, support and empower students to make positive decisions about their future. When Point Blank members establish areas of concern, they research the facts and provide alternative choices with positive outcomes. They’ve partnered with multiple members of our community and lead educational programs and youth awareness presentations that depict the harmful effects of tobacco, underage drinking, drug use, distracted driving, bullying and unhealthy relationships. Point Blank aligned its efforts with the nation program “Students Against Destructive Decisions.” If you would like to know more about this group of students, contact their advisor Julie Pinardi with Orcas High School at jpinardi@orcas.k12.wa.us.
