Possible phone scam

An Orcas Island resident received a telephone call from a man purporting to be a representative of Airlift Northwest. The caller asked the Orcas Islander to renew their Airlift Northwest Membership over the phone – with an insistent demeanor.

Orcas Fire and Rescue says there is a possible phone scam involving fake Airlift Northwest representatives.

An Orcas Island resident received a telephone call from a man purporting to be a representative of Airlift Northwest. The caller asked the Orcas Islander to renew their Airlift Northwest Membership over the phone – with an insistent demeanor. Since the person had just recently renewed their Airlift Northwest membership, they became suspicious, hung up, and called Airlift Northwest directly and confirmed the suspicious call was not made by the company.

“Today I spoke with Airlift Northwest CEO Chris Martin and she told me that they do not call people to renew memberships,” said Fire Chief Kevin O’Brien.

If you have questions about Airlift Northwest memberships and services, call 206-521-1599. To report possible situations of fraud, contact the San Juan County Sheriff at 911.
