Orcas Family Health Center will be conducting a flu shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Suzie’s Barbershop next to Island Market.
Seasonal flu shots as well as H1N1 (swine flu) vaccines will be administered for $30 each. Payment can be made at time of service or insurance can be billed if the information is provided.
Seasonal flu vaccine can be provided to anyone interested but vaccination is especially important for people at high risk of serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease and people 65 years and older.
There are currently two forms of swine flu vaccine, nasal spray and injectable. The nasal spray can be given to children two to four years of age, caregivers of children less than six months and health care workers. The injectable vaccine can be given to those above as well as pregnant women and children or young adults age four to 24 years with chronic illnesses. There is a limited amount of the H1N1 vaccine and county health guidelines will be strictly followed.
