Submitted by San Juan County.
The Canvassing Board Manual is the administrative rulebook for guiding and governing the county’s election process. The manual is adopted and updated as needed in open public meetings.
By statute, the canvassing board is composed of the County Auditor, Prosecuting Attorney, and current Chair of the County Council. The County Canvassing Board’s duties during elections include canvassing ballots, reviewing all unofficial returns, ruling on the validity of questioned or challenged ballots, and producing the official county canvass report. The board also rules on voter registration challenges, schedules and conducts recounts, and determines tie votes by lot draw.
The San Juan County Canvassing Board will review and adopt San Juan County’s Canvassing Board Manual on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 8:30 am, after reviewing the results of the February special election.
This meeting will convene in the San Juan County Elections office at 55 2nd St., Suite A, in Friday Harbor, WA 98250.
All interested members of the public are invited to observe. For further information, contact the San Juan County Elections Office at (360) 378-3357.
