May 1: Excessive speed prompted an early-evening traffic stop and arrest of an Orcas Island man for driving with a suspended license. The 26-year-old, pulled over in the 3000 block of Orcas Road for driving 48 mph in a 35-mph zone, was taken into custody at about 9:30 p.m.

May 2: Warrants and an early-morning episode of alcohol-related revelry prompted the arrest of a Lopez Island man at the ferry landing on Lopez. The 28-year-old, one of three men who’s actions onboard a Lopez-bound ferry prompted crew members to notify local authorities, was taken into custody shortly after 9 a.m. A warrant was issued for his arrest after the man reportedly failed to appear in a Skagit County court on felony vandalism charges.

May 3: A warrant and allegations of assault led to a mid-afternoon arrest of an Orcas Island man following a confrontation with another man in Eastsound. Authorities were alerted to a possible assault after the 53-year-old, who was taken into custody at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fern Street and Prune Alley, reportedly angered by a negative response, spat on window of a truck belonging to a man that he had been begging money from.

May 5: Numerous bottles of alcohol and beer disappeared following an apparent after-hours break-in and theft at an Eastsound restaurant. Though the value of the missing liquor and beer was unlisted in the report, the case is being investigating as a felony.

May 8: A warrant issued in a Skagit County court led to the arrest of a 17-year-old Orcas Island boy after he was first questioned about a local case of burglary and theft. He was taken into custody at his home in the 100 block of Lovers Lane at about 5 p.m.

May 9: Two Orcas Island teens were arrested on alcohol-related charges following a late-night encounter with an officer on Crescent Beach Road. The 19-year-old and 18-year-old, who reportedly was staggering, were taken into custody on MIP charges at about 12:30 a.m.
