San Juan County Sheriff’s Department reported responding to these calls:

May 21: A single-car collision near the intersection of Dolphin Bay and Lotta’s Landing roads prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island man for DUI. The 48-year-old, who reportedly escaped the crash with only minor injuries, was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m.

May 22: A Decatur Island woman accused dousing her live-in boyfriend’s home with gasoline and threatening to burn down his house, and of trying repeatedly to run him over with his pickup, faces a series of charges, including attempted vehicular assault. The 44-year-old, charged also with reckless endangerment and reckless driving, was tracked down and taken into custody shortly after the man called 911 at about 8 a.m. to report a domestic dispute at his home on Thatcher Pass Road.

A warrant involving a misdemeanor offense led to a late-night arrest of an Orcas Island man shortly after he walked out of an Eastsound bar. The 25-year-old, who was confronted by a deputy in the parking lot of the bar, was taken into custody shortly after midnight and later released with a mandatory court date after posting $200 bail.

May 23: Failure to use a turn signal prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island man for driving with a suspended license. The 22-year-old was taken into custody at about 3 p.m. shortly after turning off Olga Road and onto Rosario Road without signaling.

May 24: Two kayaks — one red and one blue — disappeared, along with a pair of life jackets and two paddles, in an apparent theft at a Lopez Island waterfront home on Elliot Road. The kayaks, paddles and jackets, valued collectively at $2,000, had been left further from the water than had an assortment other outdoor equipment, all of which was still at the scene.

Erratic driving led to a late-night traffic stop and arrest of an Orcas Island woman for DUI. The 21-year-old, who reportedly drew a deputy’s attention when her car drifted over the fog line and then jerked back wildly onto the road, was pulled over in the 200 block of Blanchard Road at about 2:30 a.m.

An Orcas Island man who reportedly cut off a patrol car while leaving the parking lot of an Eastsound inn was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license. The 37-year-old, who also was reportedly wanted on an arrest warrant, was pulled over in the 200 block of North Beach Road at about 1 a.m.

May 26: An Orcas Island woman reported that her lawnmower had been stolen by a neighbor who, she claims, took it from her Oberon Lane home, used it without permission, and then later returned it.

An arrest warrant and an alleged misdemeanor offense prompted an Orcas Island man to turn himself in at the Sheriff’s department substation on Mount Baker Road. The 25-year-old, who surrendered at about 8:30 p.m., was released after posting $350 bail and with a courtroom date two days later.
