The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Nov. 4
• A female driver in the Town of Friday Harbor was cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license in the third degree. Her license had been suspended in 2013 for an unpaid traffic fine.
• A ferry crew and ferry terminal employees reported a disruptive passenger interfered with the unloading a ferry at the Lopez Island terminal.
Nov. 5
• A deputy issued a traffic infraction to a man driving in Friday Harbor for using a cell phone while driving.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of fraud at an Eastsound bank. It was determined the client’s checks were used fraudulently by a known suspect.
Nov. 6
• A San Juan Island victim called to report a neighbor’s dog had killed one of his chickens in his yard. The neighbor was already making arrangements for compensation with the chicken owner.
• A roaming dog took a rabbit from another person’s property on San Juan Island. The dog owner is making arrangements for compensation with the rabbit owner.
• A Lopez Island deputy responded to a citizen dispute complaint. There was no evidence of an assault between the involved parties. One of the involved persons, who was not located, had a warrant for his arrest for domestic violence assault.
Nov. 7
• A San Juan Island man reported he was walking his dog when a neighbor had left his gate open and the neighbor’s dogs came out and attacked his dog. The dogs were separated and the injured dog taken to the vet. The suspect’s dogs were photographed and county dog ordinances were discussed.
• A Friday Harbor business owner reported a burglary attempt on a storage shed. The locking plate was bent and a lattice damaged, but no entry made or items stolen. Evening deputies were advised to be on watch.
• Deputies were dispatched to a possible domestic dispute in Friday Harbor. The parties were contacted and it was found to be verbal only.
• A Lopez deputy conducted a welfare check on someone standing outside a parked vehicle along Fisherman Bay Road. The driver stopped after his intoxicated passenger became nauseous.
Nov. 8
• A Friday Harbor property owner found a person had entered a cabin on their property and was passed out inside. The subject was arrested and booked into jail.
• A Friday Harbor contractor reported tools stolen from a job site after finding the house unlocked.
• Parking infractions were issued to vehicles parked over the 72-hour limit at the Obstruction Pass county dock on Orcas.
• A Lopez family reported a possible car prowl of their vehicle parked in front of their home. The car alarm was set off, probably scaring the intruders away.
Nov. 9
• A derelict vehicle was abandoned in the traffic lane on Lopez Sound Road on Lopez Island. It was pushed off the road and back into the driveway it came from.
• A San Juan vehicle owner called to report a hit and run he claimed happened the night before in town.
Nov. 10
• A deputy responded to a report of an Eastsound woman posting on social media that she was going to harm herself. The investigation was completed and proved to be unfounded.
• Deputies and the county coroner are investigating the death of a 45-year-old Lopez Island man.
• Deputies arrested a 31-year-old Lopez Island woman for assault in the fourth degree – domestic violence.
• An Orcas man reported that his landlord had been harassing him. The incident was determined civil in nature but still documented.
• Deputies responded to the Friday Harbor holding facility to prevent an inmate from harming himself in the holding cell.
• A deputy responded to a report of an unwanted person at an Eastsound business. The person left the area prior to the deputy’s arrival. The subject is known to law enforcement due to his previous issues with anger, belligerence and threatening behavior.
