Sealth temporarily out of service

Ferry sailings have been delayed by an average of 30 to 60 minutes during the past week.

The 16-knot, 90-car ferry Sealth was pulled out of service on the Anacortes-San Juans route on Jan. 5 for maintenance on unspecified mechanical problems. The Sealth has been temporarily replaced by the 87-car Evergreen State ferry, which runs more slowly at 13 knots. The 34-car ferry Hiyu has taken over for the Evergreen State on the inter-island route. Officials hope to see the Sealth back in service by the end of this week.
