Sept. 11 ceremony this weekend

Orcas Island Fire and Rescue will conduct two ceremonies on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Orcas Island Fire and Rescue will conduct two ceremonies on Sunday, Sept. 11.

At 8:45 a.m. there will be a remembrance in honor of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

A piece of steel beam from the World Trade Center will be on display, and plans for the future display will be revealed. The public is invited to participate and share thoughts or memories from that day.

At 12 p.m. the focus will shift to the recently completed fire station in Deer Harbor. The public is invited to join the Orcas Fire members in the dedication of the Deer Harbor community’s new station.
