March 26: An unpaid traffic ticket and lack of a light over a rear license plate prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island man for driving with a suspended license. The 24-year-old, pulled over in the 900 block of Orcas Road at about 10 p.m., claimed to be unaware that his license had been suspended following a failure to appear in court or pay the fine.
March 28: A mid-morning collision prompted the arrest of an Orcas Island man for DUI. The 54-year-old, involved in a crash near the intersection of Blanc and Orcas roads, was taken into custody at about 10 a.m.
March 30: A road sign and a stop sign disappeared in an apparent case of theft on Orcas Island. The road sign, marking the entrance to a private road known as “Pleasure Horse,” and a stop sign at the intersection of Crow Valley Road and Nordstrom Lane were located within a half-mile of each other.
