The San Juan County Sheriff’s office responded to the following calls.

April 13

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a housing rental scam. Though the victim provided personal information there was no monetary loss. At the time of the report, no workable suspect was available.

• A deputy took a report of the theft of a package on Cormorant Bay Road on Orcas.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of a downed aircraft on the 200 block of Lovers Lane.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of a possible vehicle prowl. Later, the person reporting the prowl located the missing item.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a two-car collision. There were no injuries but both vehicles were damaged, and one driver was issued a citation for improper lane usage.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a weapons offense call.

April 14

• After an individual was found wandering into a campsite on Lopez seeking a shower, a deputy was called. Since the campground had no vacant showers, the deputy directed the bather-in-need to try the public showers in the village or an area resort.

• An Orcas deputy investigated a report of harassment, indecent exposure, interfering with a service animal, and obstructing a law enforcement officer. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.

• A deputy on Orcas took a report of an order violation that happened a week prior to the reporting.

• A man was arrested by Orcas deputies for illegally camping on private property on Shaw Island. He was also in possession of stolen property, which was seized.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a domestic dispute and found no crime had occurred. The other party in the dispute left the residence on their own, which resolved the issue.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a fraud complaint. The complainant said he had received over 20 phone calls from someone posing as a cell phone service provider. He recognized the calls as fraudulent and hung up immediately, incurring no loss.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a juvenile who was unconscious due to alcohol consumption. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for treatment and their guardian was notified.

April 15

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a non-injury accident on Orcas Road. The vehicle was safely off the roadway and the driver had arranged to have the vehicle towed. The deputy provided the driver with a courtesy ride home.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a delayed report of a theft that occurred on April 11. The complainant reported that FedEx delivered a package to their front porch while they were away, and when they returned home the package was not there. There is no video surveillance and no suspects or workable leads at this time.

• A visitor to San Juan turned in a found credit card. The owner was located and the card was returned.

• A Lopez deputy was called out for a weapons noise complaint. Once at the site, the deputy heard no further weapon noises and was unable to locate the source of the noise.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen dispute. No crime had been committed and the parties were separated for the night.

April 16

• An Orcas citizen turned in a small wallet she had found on a pathway. Unable to locate the owner who lives on the mainland, the deputy booked the wallet into the property room at the island’s substation.

• A Lopez resident reported a vehicle in a ditch from an overnight incident.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of vandalism. A resident had erected a free library in their yard and an unidentified neighbor vandalized the stand and left two notes directing the owner to remove the stand.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a cash box found on Marilee Lane that was later determined to be the same one stolen during a burglary of Rosario Resort & Spa. The investigation is ongoing.

April 17

• A deputy responded to a mooring problem at the county dock in Roche Harbor. The deputy issued five parking violation citations to the vessels for not having their parking permit sticker.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a non-injury motor vehicle accident call.

• A deputy was dispatched with Orcas Fire & Rescue to an animal bite call.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a speeding citation for traveling 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• A driver traveling 43 mph in a 25 mph zone was stopped by a deputy on Orcas and issued a citation for speeding.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a report of a person illegally occupying a residence. The person was gone on arrival and abandoned property was collected.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a welfare check call when an individual did not return home for dinner with their spouse. The deputy located the individual, who was napping in their car after a long afternoon of gardening in the sun.

April 18

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a lost Sony camera near Lime Kiln State Park.

• An off-leash chihuahua bolted across the road in front of a Lopez deputy. Subsequently, the owner was located, the dog was returned and the owner received a warning.

April 19

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a vehicle failing to stop for a school bus while its lights were activated. After reviewing the evidence and speaking with the driver, the driver was issued a citation for passing a stopped school bus.

• A Lopez deputy conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a warning for driving with wheels off the roadway.

• Deputies on San Juan conducted a welfare check on children at the request of their mother after their other parent had not returned them home on the agreed date. Contact was made with the children, and they appeared to be okay.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver and issued a citation for speeding 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.

• A deputy responded to a harassment on San Juan. No crime was committed.
