The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

June 26

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of vandalism on Lopez.

• A driver traveling 41 mph in a 25 mph zone on Lopez was issued a citation for speeding.

• On San Juan, a wallet with ID was found on Sunshine Alley and turned into the Sheriff’s Office. Efforts were made to contact the owner.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a dog-at-large call.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a call-back about something that occurred on an outer island. The reporting party only wanted the incident documented.

• A pair of wireless earbuds were found on the sidewalk outside the community theater on San Juan. With no markings on them identifying the owner, they were booked into the property and evidence room.

• On San Juan, a deputy participated in a citizen assist.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of harassment. Since the behavior did not meet the criterion for criminal behavior the reporting party was told of legal remedies.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a death investigation.

June 27

• A deputy responded to a reported trespass in the Friday Harbor area and issued two people trespass warning letters.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a fight at a hardware store, arrested a person for assault, and booked them into jail.

• A deputy was dispatched to an overdose in the Friday Harbor area. When the deputy arrived and secured the scene, San Juan Aid arrived to provide treatment.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. After an investigation revealed the driver was not impaired, nor had been operating their vehicle recklessly, they received a citation.

June 28

• A deputy conducted a traffic stop on San Juan after the driver made an illegal left turn at Nichols Street and Argyle Avenue. The driver received a verbal warning and was released.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to report of an abandoned vehicle on private property, contacted the owner, and documented the incident.

• On Orcas, deputies took a report of fraud perpetrated over Facebook and gathered information. The investigation continues.

June 29

• Twice, deputies on Orcas observed a vessel docked in West Sound and issued the owner citations for an expired registration.

• Twice, San Juan deputies observed a vessel moored in Deer Harbor and issued the owner citations for an expired registration.

• Deputies on Orcas also observed a vessel moored in Shipyard Cove and subsequently issued the owner a citation for an expired registration.

• A Lopez deputy responded when the driver of a vehicle traveling from Center Road to Mud Bay Road failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a street sign and the guard rail. The driver fled before the deputy could make contact.

June 30

• A deputy was dispatched to a parking problem on Orcas and impounded a vehicle parked in a location prohibited by posted signs.

• A deputy responded to an unattended death in Friday Harbor. The coroner was contacted, conducted an investigation, and determined that the individual passed away from natural causes.

July 1

• A deputy on Orcas took a report about a stolen business sign.

• Deputies on Orcas took a report of a hit-and-run that occurred on private property.

• Once deputies responded to the scene of a vehicle collision on Orcas, they determined the accident required an EMS response. The results of an investigation were documented.

July 2

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault between a mother, her girlfriend, and her son. After an investigation, the son was arrested for 4th-degree assault and booked into jail pending a hearing with a judge.

• A deputy responded to a citizen dispute near Eastsound. The disruptive person was asked to leave and did so.

July 3

• Deputies on Orcas responded to an assault. One of those involved was arrested.
