San Juan County’s Public Works Department announces the complete closure of West Beach Rd for three days January 9-11. This 72-hour road closure is necessary to replace a large culvert that has collapsed under the roadway.
A section of West Beach Rd between Red Cross Quarry Rd and Cadden Ln (approximately 0.7 miles west of Crow Valley Rd) will be closed on Monday, Jan. 9 at 6 a.m. until Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. During this time, no thru traffic will be permitted.
This culvert replacement project is critically important to protect the roadway from washing out during a heavy rainstorm event. The existing culvert has failed, and Public Works crews are working quickly to maintain the safety of county roads.
