The Orcas Island School District invites parents and community members to tour the Nellie S. Milton Building – the elementary school – to see progress of its summer construction project.
The work is part of a state energy grant awarded to the school district to upgrade and improve the air and water handling systems in the building. Funding has been provided by the grant and a loan from Cashmere Bank and local donors.
At this point, air and water handling systems have been removed and are in the process of being replaced. To see what has been accomplished so far, join the tour starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Participants are asked to wear closed toed shows and not bring children.
“We will meet at the maple tree for a brief discussion with our project manager regarding safety and to answer questions about the project,” say school representatives. “If you can’t make it but would like to track the progress of the project, pictures have been posted on the district’s website: http://www.orcasislandschools.org.”
Photos are also posted on a bulletin board in front of the elementary school.
