Orcas Island Lions Club members are preparing for the annual Toys for Tots and Tweens toy dispersal.
The Toys for Tots Program provides toys for families in need. Parents are allowed to choose toys, books and a hat/gloves set per child. This year toys will be distributed to Orcas Island parents at the Eastsound Fire Hall on Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Dec. 13 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., and Dec. 14, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Last year, the Orcas Island Toys for Tots program helped 89 families and 170 children and teens have a merrier Christmas.
Veronica San Martin, Chair of the Toys for Tots Program, says, “New, unwrapped toys can be donated and dropped off at Ray’s Pharmacy and Radio Shack. Anyone wishing to help with monetary donations may send a check, made out to the Orcas Lions Club, to PO Box 1212, Eastsound, WA 98245-1212.” Cash donations are spent locally.
