The San Juan County Sheriff’s office responded to the following calls.
Dec. 7
• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of fraud involving an EBT card.
• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of a found passport in a parking lot in Friday Harbor. The owner was contacted, but it was learned they were off-island and wouldn’t be back the same day. The passport was submitted into evidence as found property.
• A deputy responded to a report of a vessel left at the Obstruction Pass county dock for the last month. The responsible person was contacted and said they would move the vessel.
• A Lopez deputy responded to a theft call that involved an outgoing package reported missing after it was left at a mailbox.
• A deputy responded to a report of a missing juvenile on San Juan. After the juvenile was located at a friend’s residence they were reunited with their parent.
• Deputies on Orcas responded to a domestic dispute. No crime had been committed; one of the involved found an alternative place to stay for the night and was provided a courtesy ride to that location.
Dec. 8
• After a bank called a San Juan resident about stopping payment on suspicious charges, the bank suggested the customer report the incident to law enforcement. No suspect information was available and the incident was documented.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of the theft of a package. There are no workable leads.
• A deputy responded to a report of a non-injury collision on San Juan. The driver was issued a citation for driving with wheels off the roadway and given additional warnings. No signs of impairment were observed.
Dec. 9
• An Orcas deputy responded to a call of threats being made over Facebook. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined no crime was committed.
Dec. 10
• A deputy on San Juan responded to the jail for a medical issue. San Juan EMS evaluated the patient and the incident was documented.
• On Orcas, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a trespass. Surveillance video was provided and subjects appeared to leave shortly after arriving without disturbing anything on the property. No crime was seen to have been committed.
• A deputy on Orcas stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding and issued them a citation for speeding, 40 mph in a 25-mile-per-hour zone.
• A deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Orcas for speeding and a burnt-out headlight. The driver was issued citations for not having insurance, not having a license on their person, and an expired registration over two months. The driver also received verbal warnings for speeding, a burnt-out headlight, and failing to transfer a title.
• Deputies responded to a report of a court order violation in Friday Harbor. Investigation revealed the respondent knowingly violated the order. The suspect was unable to be located and charges were sent to the prosecutor.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a barking dog complaint and issued the owner a verbal warning.
Dec. 11
• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop near Eastsound. The driver was issued a citation for not stopping at a stop sign and given a warning about their expired registration.
• Deputies on San Juan responded to a report of an erratic driver. The driver was located and was subsequently arrested for suspected DUI. The driver admitted to using an illegal substance prior to driving and a search warrant for blood was granted by a judge.
Dec. 12
• On San Juan, a deputy received a report of a missing person. The caller was unable to locate her adult brother; then called back a few minutes later stating she located her brother and that he was not in need of assistance.
• A deputy responded to a report of a theft of a street sign on San Juan. There were no workable leads or suspects at the time.
• A deputy on San Juan was dispatched to a report of a theft at a local market. The manager stated they had footage of a person stealing from the store and wished to have them trespassed. A trespass warning letter was issued.
Dec. 13
• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of a non-injury accident involving two pickup trucks. Both drivers had valid driver’s licenses and insurance and a state collision report was completed.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding and issued them a citation for traveling 61 mph in a 45-mile-per-hour zone.
• A deputy responded to a possible domestic incident near Eastsound. After an investigation was completed, it was found that no crime had been committed and it was verbal only.
