On the afternoon of May 14, a single-occupant vehicle went off Enchanted Forest Road and over an embankment, rolling over twice before landing on its roof.
The woman in the car was seat-belted and was removed by an emergency crew of 15 Fire Department members, said Chief Mike Harris.
The woman couldn’t be airlifted due to poor weather, and so the sheriff’s boat, the Guardian, was dispatched to take her to the mainland. She was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham, where she was undergoing tests and observation.
Sheriff Bill Cumming said that the accident may have been caused by a medical condition.
A paramedic and two EMTs accompanied her on the Guardian.
Harris said that the rescue unit fire engine, and ambulance were used in the rescue.
