David Verald Burt, 80, formerly of Doe Bay, Wash., passed away in Yuma, Arizona on Jan. 30, 2007.

David was born at Olga, Orcas Island, Wash., on November 20, 1926. He was the third child of Fairy Margaret Alexander-Burt-Wiggen, and Guy Verald Burt. He went to the Eastsound grade school before the family moved from the island.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Army before becoming a Hospital Director at Madigan Army Hospital at Ft. Lewis, WA. for 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roberta and his sister, Laurel Burt-Billington.

His is survived by his six children Dana Herley, Cynthia Lynne Oppelt, Susan Garland, Darlene Bently, Daniel Burt, Kelly Dowden, and a sister, Berna Burt-Dowden. David has 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His ashes will be placed in the family plot at the Olga/Doe Bay cemetery at a later date.
