Gordon Daly Fox, 78, was born March 25, 1931 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Howard and Marie Fox. He died November 28, 2009 in Mt. Vernon, Wash.
Gordon graduated from Manual Arts High School. He was in the Air Force 1951 from 1956, and was stationed in France, he met the love of his life.
Returning to Los Angeles in 1956, he worked in the Aerospace field, proud that satellites he worked on were still in space. Gordon moved to Orcas Island in 1966, escaping the rat race. He started a few businesses, including Diversified Associates and Gordy’s Garage. He belonged to the O.I.Y.C. (past Commodore), the Power Squadron (past Commander), and the fire department (past Fire Chief). Being multi-talented, outgoing, and eager to help others, he quickly became well known as the guy to go to. We affectionately called him our “social butterfly.”
Gordon moved to Mt. Vernon in 1994, sold the boat, embraced classic cars and joined the Skagit Valley Classic Car Club (past President). He loved his family, God, and his country. Wherever he went, he easily made friends and will be greatly missed.
He and Dee always said, “If we die tomorrow, we had a great life.”
We may have lost a wonderful man, but we have all gained one more angel to watch over us.
He is survived by his wife Dee (married 55 years on November 27, 2009), daughter Loretta and husband Ken Bennett, son John and wife Becky Fox, grandchildren Brandon, Melissa, Steve, and JT, and great-grandsons Skylar and Tyler.
The family wishes to thank all his friends for their prayers and to Dr. Berliner, Dr. Skinner, and the Skagit Valley Hospital staff for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Hospice or the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. A celebration of his life will be announced and held after the holidays.
