Jesse Blair Applegate, age 75, died June 26, 2024. He was born in Hood River, Oregon, to T.S. (App) Applegate and Frances Anna Blair Applegate on September 18, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances, on Sept. 18, 2012, his father, App, on June 11, 2013 and his brother James McClellan Applegate on Feb. 4, 2022.
He is survived by his sister Lola Ann Applegate, niece Corina Clair Applegate and grand niece Alyssa Ann Berquist, his brother in law Vern Hodgson, step niece Debbie Hodgson and Step nephew Michael Hodgson and Michaels’ wife Natsuyo Hodgson and their daughter Julia Hodgson.
Jesse died in his home, as was his wish, in Ephrata, Washington with his sister by his side after fighting pancreatic cancer since 2022.
He is a graduate of Tappan Zee High School with special mention in Science and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia University.
Before graduating high school Jesse became an Eagle Scout and made his mama proud, making her an honorary boy scout. During his life Jesse experienced sailing a 100-foot, 4-masted Barkentine from Bermuda to New York Hudson Harbor. He was a skilled machinist and loved to design things. He loved the Chinese Language and English Literature and has an extensive library.
Jesse was a long-time resident of Orcas Island, and there will be a celebration of life for him, his brother, and his mother next year on Orcas Island.
