It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Mabel Ruth Vandestraat, announce the death of our beloved mother. Ruth made Orcas her home for 30 years. She had many adventures in life, but her purchase of Mt Baker Farm was one of the highlights. She spent 5 years living her dream, running a campground and opening the Farm up to the community. One of her most cherished memories was watching the Kaleidoscope Forest School kids running and jumping through mud puddles on their way to forest school in her woods.

We are grateful to the Orcas community for their support in making that crazy adventure a success.

Ruth leaves behind four children, eight grandchildren and many cherished friends.
