Neil R. Ogden passed away on Friday, November 24th, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Everett just three days after being diagnosed with cancer. Neil was born in Ballard and grew up with his family on Lopez Island.
After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1958 he went to work for Boeing Aircraft as a draftsman. He earned his AA degree in 1976 and retired from Boeing as an Electrical Engineer in 1994. Of the 36 years he was employed by Boeing he was especially proud of the five years he spent with them in New Orleans working on the Saturn and Apollo rocket missions.
Soon after retiring from the Boeing Company he moved to Fir Island in Mt. Vernon, Washington. He enjoyed traveling, sailing, cooking, gardening and theater.
He is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Jay Suthards, his brother Harold Ogden and wife Carol, his sister Darlene Wylie and husband Dal, his son, Raymond Ogden, his daughter, Carol Haight and her husband Brian, his two granddaughters, Jessica and Rachel Haight, his grandson Ryan Haight as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to an open house at Neil and Jay’s home on Saturday, December 2, 2006 from 2pm to 6:00pm. No funeral or service will be held at Neil’s request.
