Reba L. Lehmann, 99, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at Where the Heart Is Assisted Living in Burlington.
She was born Feb. 27, 1906 in Kent, the daughter of Augusta and Sarah (Abbey) Lewis. The Lewis family moved to Samish Island, Skagit County, when Reba was quite young, and she was raised and educated there. She attended Samish Grade School and Edison High School. Later, on a trip to Deer Harbor to visit Marjorie Roney, an older sister, she met Henry Lehmann. They were married in 1924. Henry died in an accident in 1965. For nearly 80 years, Reba lived on Orcas Island. She was active in community affairs through most of this time, particularly the West Sound Community Club, Fidelis Circle, Garden Club, and The Rebekah Lodge 183. For many years she served as voter registrar for the West Sound precinct. Reba and Henry were also charter members of the Orcas Island Yacht Club, and Reba prepared her special clam chowder for many of their gatherings. She was a member of the Orcas Island Community Church. For the past few years, her major social outings have been associated with the Orcas Senior Center. Reba rarely missed the noon luncheons. In June 2003, Reba moved to Burlington.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marjorie Roney and Helen Lehmann; three brothers, Dick, Frank and Mason Lewis; and her daughter, Melba Bosone, in 2003. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Mary Lehmann, of Anacortes; her son-in-law, Robert “Buzz” Bosone, of Anacortes; five grandchildren, Ann Bosone Longinotti, Bobby Bosone, Gary Lehmann, Cathy Lehmann, and Marilou Lehmann Smith; and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Reba will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Orcas Island Community Church. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Orcas Island Community Church or the Orcas Senior Center. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes and San Juan Islands.
