1939-2022
Roland Anthony Hachee Jr., 82, a proud veteran who believed in service to his community well beyond his enlisted years, passed away peacefully at home on Orcas Island, Washington on February 12, 2022.
He was born July 13, 1939 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Rosella and Roland Hachee Sr.
Roland’s career was spent in software development and consultation and he was also a licensed customs broker. He served faithfully in leadership positions at his American Legion Post #93, including service as Post Commander. His family and close friends remember him as a lover of music and also a lover of nature. In particular, Roland loved the San Juan Islands, an area he was able to enjoy during his retirement years. Although he had many passions, Roland found particular joy in fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Alice of Orcas Island, Washington; five children, James Hachee, Mark (Gretchen) Hachee, and Susan Armour, all of southern California, Nicole (Shawn) Winston of Marysville, and Matthew (Regina) Hachee of New York; nine grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters; and many close friends that loved him like a member of their own families. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Hachee of Port Huron; and daughter, Jacqueline Hachee of California.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the American Legion on Orcas Island, Washington.
Roland touched many lives through his volunteerism, and his family would love for memorial contributions to be directed to the charities to which he dedicated his time, talent and energy: American Legion Post #93 Scholarship Fund, 793 Crescent Beach Rd., Eastsound, WA 98245; Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freedom Way, Suite A., Mt. Vernon, WA 98273; or The Actors Theater of Orcas Island, P.O. Box 1198, Eastsound, WA 98245.
