Why vote for Park and Rec? If the kids could vote, they would vote for it. Compared to the mainland, our young athletes are not offered year round sports like soccer, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, hockey, etc. Kids here are not pushed to pursue one sport year round. Instead, they have the opportunity to become experienced in a variety of activities. This is the compromise we face living here, but it is also what is so special about Orcas. A Park and Rec program helps give our kids this variety of athletics and activities.

Growing up, my son participated in a number of rec activities. These experiences have helped develop skills that will enable him to participate in many future athletic and life activities. Having these experiences and skills will open up many choices for his adult years.
