Bobby Olmsted was a pillar of Viking golf as the head coach for 11 years.
He then remained active in high school golf for three years as the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association director for district and state tournaments.
Now Olmsted is enthusiastic to take on his previous job as coach.
“This is a great bunch of kids who are playing,” he said. “There is a lot of talent, they are hungry, they are young, they want to learn and they are having fun which is what this is all about.”
Asked about how the island course prepares athletes, Olmsted said, “We have one of the best courses for the kids to learn golf because we don’t have a flat lie.”
The Vikings hosted Mt. Vernon Christian and LaConner on March 14.
