Lady Vikes pull out a win against Shoreline, lose to Concrete and Sultan

The girls were tied going into the fourth quarter, 37-37. With 1:41 left in the game, the score was tied again at 51-51 with a shot by Lana Bronn. Bella Nigretto bumped the Vikings ahead with another basket.

Aliviah Garcia shot two baskets from the foul line with just 51 seconds left, bringing the score to 55-51. Shoreline Christian player #10 scored a foul shot to make the final numbers 55-52, still leaving a win for the lady Vikings’ varsity team.

Nigretto had 26 points, Shelbi Rogers 10, Lana Bronn 7, Kathryn Tidwell 5, Garcia 4 and Tamara Klein 2.  Rogers had 12 rebounds, followed by Tidwell and Bronn with 8 apiece. Nigretto, Rogers and Garcia finished with 3 steals each.

Other games

The Lady Vikings traveled to Concrete on Dec. 13. The Concrete Lions dominated the first quarter, outscoring Orcas 11 to 26.  Orcas pulled ahead 34 to 32 in the third quarter, but were only ahead by one at the end of the third quarter. The Vikings struggled to maintain their lead but couldn’t hold on in the fourth. The score was 53-49.

Nigretto had 19 points, Rogers 9, Tidwell 8, Bronn 6 and Garcia and Alena Janssen had three each. Tidwell had 8 rebounds and Nigretto finished with 5 steals.

On Dec. 17, the girls headed to Sultan, a 2A school, for a non-league game. The Turks outscored Orcas every quarter but the third. The final score was 37-33.

“It was a great battle but we couldn’t pull it out,” Hance said.

Nigretto had 16 points, Bronn 7, Rogers and Kathryn Tidwell 4 each and Alicia Susol 2.  Rogers led rebounding with 11.
