Lady Vikings played their first home game against Sultan High School on Sept. 12.
Family members, peers and teachers all gathered to cheer on their team. The junior varsity volleyball team’s excitement was infatuating, and cheers echoed throughout the gym.
The game was neck and neck in all three sets. Unfortunately, Sultan pulled ahead consistently and at the end of each. The final score was 0-3. On Sept. 18, the Lady Vikings played Blaine off-island with a score of 0-3.
“I thought our game against Blaine was a tough match,” said junior Sofia Mahony-Jauregui. “There were a lot of good things in that game, and I’m so proud of everyone. We did really good. They were a good team to go against early in the season and see what big school’s competition is like. I can’t wait for our next game and to see the growth we will have!”
